Ever have to do something around the same time every day? Walk the dog, take some medicine, practice an instrument? Well, a few weeks ago, my fiance had a recurring task that I wanted to help her keep on top of. I told her I'd text her at the same time each day so she remembers.

Well, being the technology dependent guy that I am, I figured there had to be an online service that did this kind of stuff. Of course there was, but none of the sites were very fun to use, and I thought I could make a better one. So I did. There are three aspects to TextReminders.net. The first is financial, the second functional and the third is social. The financial aspect is simply the ability to send free texts to friends. The functional aspect is the ability to schedule recurring reminders. The social aspect is the ability to share updates and reminders with friends.

To send free texts, go to the homepage, enter in your friends information and off you go. To setup recurring texts, register on the site and setup a reminder. To connect with friends, register on the site, search for your friends and click the "follow me" button. Whenever a friend updates their status, you receive a text message. You can also share reminders with your friends. Fun stuff.

Please also keep in mind that the site is in early beta. This is my first time programming in php, so there will be some wacky stuff going on with the code. There will be times when you get 30 of the same text message - annoying I know. Just let me know and I'll try to fix the bug. I highly recommend having a very strong text message plan, as this service can eat into your monthly quota if you get charged for incoming texts.
